Lifelong learning conference

More than 120 participants from as far as the UK and US will attend the 5th International Lifelong Learning Conference at Rydges Capricorn Resort from June 16 to 19.

The Conference, hosted by Central Queensland University, aims to identify and unite the various partners involved with lifelong learning including educators across all sectors, industry representatives, policy makers and lifelong learners themselves.

Popular jazz singer and drummer add gloss to Mackay concert

Popular Sydney-based jazz singer and recording artist Kristin Berardi will join jazz drummer Paul Hudson, a renowned Brisbane-based performer and session recording artist, as featured artists for this year's first big night of jazz music in Mackay on Friday, May 23 (from 8pm).

The Conversations in Improvisation concert hosted by the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music will also be a welcome back for Kristin, who studied at the Con in Mackay when she was a fledgling performer and has since performed at international jazz events and released CDs featuring her own compositions.

Dynamic achievers recognised in Melbourne

The latest recipients of the State Director Victoria awards are all dynamic achievers who have been a credit to CQU Melbourne International Campus.

One of the awardees, 'Ivy' Chung Wei Hoon, was also selected to deliver a vote of thanks on behalf of graduates at the Melbourne graduation recently.

Scholarship success

Business scholarships awarded in Mackay

Former North Mackay State High student Shaye Brodie and former Mirani State High student Andrew Brockhurst were recently awarded Central Queensland University (CQU) Business scholarships worth up to $5000.

Friends and family members attended the ceremony, along with Mirani State High Principal Shelley Lewis, North Mackay High Principal Linda Boyle and teacher Carolyn Thomas.
